Dama Gazelle

The dama gazelle is a tall, elegant gazelle native to the Sahara and Sahel regions of North Africa. Males may weigh about 88–165 pounds, while females often weigh about 77–90 pounds; body length is roughly 55–66 inches. The coat varies by subspecies but typically combines white with reddish-brown on the neck, back, and shoulders; both sexes have S-shaped horns, with males usually larger. Dama gazelles are desert-edge browsers and grazers and are among the most endangered gazelles in the wild. They were present in Texas exotic herds by the 1970s, with only a small number documented there in 1979 before later ranch population growth. (Animal Diversity Web) (MySA)
