Sitatunga

The sitatunga is a swamp-adapted spiral-horned antelope native to wetlands across central, eastern, and southern Africa. Males weigh about 220–275 pounds and stand around 39 inches at the shoulder, while females weigh about 110–200 pounds and stand about 30–35 inches. Males are gray-brown to chocolate-brown with horns, while females are chestnut to reddish-brown and hornless. Both sexes may show white facial and body markings. Sitatunga have long, splayed hooves and flexible foot joints that help them walk through marshes and papyrus swamps. In the U.S., they are mostly zoo and specialized collection animals introduced during the late 20th century. (Animal Diversity Web)
