Thomson Gazelle

Thomson’s gazelle is a small East African gazelle native primarily to Kenya and Tanzania, especially open grasslands and short-grass savannas. Males weigh about 44–77 pounds, while females weigh about 33–55 pounds; shoulder height is roughly 22–32 inches. They have reddish-brown backs, white bellies, a bold black side stripe, white rump, black tail, and facial striping. Males have stronger ringed horns, while females may have smaller horns or none. Thomson’s gazelles are fast, social grazers and famous for stotting when alarmed. In the U.S., they have been kept in zoos and safari parks since the mid-to-late 20th century. (Animal Diversity Web)
